Health care benefits will be attained by improving the effectiveness of emergency and preventive health care services. These services include EMT, patient monitoring, health education, and telemedicine services. The improvement of preventive services is likely to have the biggest impact on the city’s overall welfare. These services will include online programs that provide citizens with universal access to various online healthy living programs.

Project – Health-e-Cities/Emergency Medical Services

This pilot takes advantage of the City's WiFi system to improve public health by providing vital information to paramedics in the field and improving communications with the Emergency Department (ED) at Christus Spohn hospitals.  The wireless mesh will be used to access data from the ambulance and send the data to the ED.  The data becomes the foundation for personal health records.  The City’s Emergency Medical Services staff are working closely with the Christus Spohn personnel in developing this application.
